Derby High School students start a new Campus Bible Group!

Student Leaders Speak

“My motivation for wanting to start this group was to allow people who couldn’t be at FCA at night to have an opportunity to meet with fellow students and share God’s Word together. I also have seen how many hurt people there are in this world and Derby HS being a big school shows that every day with students –  so we wanted to be a light in the darkness.” Ashyln

“My motivation for starting this FCA group was to reach kids who aren’t being reached.” Sunnie

“I would say a challenge with starting this group is having to accommodate to what the school wanted us to do vs what we wanted to do. As well as some miscommunication with us and the school.” Sunnie

“Our initial intentions was to meet during homeroom or some other time during the school day so that we could reach more people as well, but we were told that they also had a policy against that. That was kind of a challenge to have to change the whole set up of our club, but we just kept trying and eventually found something that worked for all of us.” Ashyln

“I would say some successes of this group is getting to hear everyone talk and bring the wisdom from all the different churches. I love seeing new kids speak up each and every week. I think having this group Monday mornings starts our week off on the right step.” Sunnie

“To anyone who is wanting to start an FCA or anything like this I would say to just do it. Starting it is the hardest part but don’t think to much about it – just do it. Even if things don’t go your way right away keep going because it’s so worth it.”  Sunnie.

I encourage other students to just go for it and pray about it. Someone’s life could be changed all because of your faithful action step to reach more students and turn them to God. Also, don’t think about what others may say. It is well worth it, even if just a few people’s lives are changed.”  Ashyln
