Student inspired to “Pray Constantly” at her campus!

Student Leaders Speak

See You After The Pole 2013 had a bigger impact on my life than I expected. It was my second year attending and I expected the same as last year: moving worship, lots of prayer and of course, a message. However, God was doing something in my heart before I even walked through those sanctuary doors and He moved in much more powerful ways. As I sat there watching the video clips from schools all over the city, God began to nudge my heart. The last clip, for those of you that don’t remember was a young boy standing alone at his  elementary school flagpole. I burst into tears and began to think how different our city could be if we all had the same courage and faith as that little boy.

God has really put my school, Eisenhower High School, on my heart this year. I watched that morning as students gathered around our flagpole and I knew with confidence that Gods hand was over everything. One thing that all schools take part in that morning is prayer. We pray for our school, our peers, our staff and much more. But, as soon as that bell rings we forget all of it. Prayer is much more than that. Prayer should be constant through our days. There is nothing more powerful than prayer.

Between the workings of God in my heart and the message that was given later that night God gave me an idea. What if everyday between every hour you pray for someone that you see in the hallway? Just one person, someone you know or someone you don’t know. It doesn’t matter. For some of us that’s seven times during the school day and for others it may be four. It doesn’t matter. The goal here is not to see who can pray the most but to keep prayer as a constant in our busy lives. I encourage you whether you’re eight or eighteen, to make a difference. Pray for your locker buddy or that kid that just bumped you in the hall. We were made to bring change. So bring it.
