Student Leaders Speak

“One of the biggest things I’ve learned as a student leader is the importance of leading by example. Those who I lead watch how I carry myself, how I speak, and how I love others. I’m not perfect, but trying to reflect God in those areas has brought great things. Living in a way that glorifies and pleases God will encourage others to live in that same way.  Some of the most meaningful impact doesn’t happen in big group settings, but in conversations with a small group or one student. Take time to really know people and connect with them. Ask your friends if they need prayer for something. Find a younger student and mentor them. Small connections=big moments.”   Kayden – Valley Center HS

“I have learned that being a leader comes with struggle and understanding. You will  have rough time but  it is your job to push past those struggles. For upcoming leaders I would say just be prepared for hard times but also be prepared for the glory and love of Jesus to work through your life.”   Jarret – Circle HS

“As a student leader I have learned that even taking a small step of faith can cause you to grow as a person and can help to change other people’s lives.  To upcoming leaders I would say to not be scared to get outside of your comfort zone. Also do not worry about what others may think about you – take a leap of faith.”   Ashyln – Derby HS

“As a student leader, I have learned that leading by example is the best way to lead. It is so crucial to be welcoming to everyone, so that we can connect on a deeper level with our peers.  I would advise upcoming leaders to step out of their comfort zones and take the risk because the reward of meeting new people and leading them to Jesus is greater than your fear!”  Gabby – Andover HS

“As a student leader, I’ve learned how to ask questions with an intention of digging deeper, learning, and reflecting, instead of just searching for an answer.  I would tell upcoming leaders to have courage and keep showing up! It might be difficult at times, but whatever impact made will be worth it.”   Lili – Andover HS

“As a student leader I have learned how to serve others. I’ve learned that showing up for other people in incredibly important because it makes people feel seen and loved.  Some advice I would give is to make sure you have people to pour into you. As a leader you pour out to others so much so you need to have people that will pour into you. ”  Kaya – Derby HS
