Last year, I transferred to Northwest High School. Abbi, my friend from church was my ride to school and just so happened to be the leader of Campus Life for Northwest High School. Because of this, I went to Campus Life every Wednesday that school year. It was one of the best parts of my week. By the end of the year, Abbi told me that she wanted me to take over and lead Campus Life the next year. I was nervous at first, because I’ve never been responsible for something like that before, and I had only been a Christian for a year, but I decided that I would do it, knowing that God would give me what I needed in order to be a good leader for Campus Life. Now that I’m leading Campus Life, I can say that it is one of the things that I am most proud of in my life. Being able to bring the love of Christ into my school and having the opportunity to educate students about the Bible while creating a loving and caring atmosphere and community has brought so much joy into my life!

Since I’ve taken over Campus Life we’ve been trying all sorts of new things, trying to get students out of their comfort zones and into sharing the Kingdom with our classmates! One of the ways we have done that is by collecting prayer requests. Anna, my co-leader and I took Mason Jars around the school and collected prayer requests. We had little slips of paper cut up and encouraged our classmates to write a prayer request on one and put it in the jar. The response was overwhelming! So many people wrote down prayer requests that my jar became stuffed. While some people were very willing to give us their prayer requests, some were a bit more hesitant. In this case, I would simply ask them if they had any prayer requests. Even if they said something jokingly like”Well I sure could use some more sleep.” I’d write that down on a slip of paper myself and put it in the jar. When we met to pray on Wednesday mornings we had collected quite a few prayer requests. I set them all out on the floor and put on some music while we prayed over the slips of paper. Each of us there would grab a few slips of paper and go off on our own in the room and pray for the needs of all of our classmates and their loved ones. By the end of our meeting we all got to pray for each request and then came together and prayed over our school as a whole. When the meeting was over we divided up the slips of paper between us evenly and took them home with us. This made it to where we could be praying for the requests throughout our whole week. Getting to pray over the specific needs of people in our school was an amazing experience for our group, and also very humbling for all of us.”
