What happens when two middle school students answer the call to leadership on their campus? I recently asked Calvin and Sam to share their experience in starting a Campus Bible Group at Andover Middle School.
Calvin: I had the idea to start a Campus Bible Group at See You AFTER The Pole when it was presented as an idea to help grow Christianity on my campus but sadly I forgot about it until after Christmas break.
Sam: The first time I thought about starting a Campus Bible Group was at See You AFTER The Pole when they had people respond if they would be willing to start a Campus Bible Group. I forgot about it after that. After Christmas break I just randomly started thinking about starting a Campus Bible Group. Calvin said he was thinking about starting one and then Keith Malcom(Campus Ministry Network) and Kyle Fleet(Central Christian Church) brought it up one day and that’s when we got the process underway.
Calvin: This is only our second week but we have had a rather good turnout for little to no advertisement. Some students have made fun of me but besides a few people we have had a nice response.
Sam: I wanted to start this Campus Bible Group because I want to be be the light of Jesus in my school. I want to bring people to Christ and show his love to everyone. I also want to help others grow in their faith and become closer with The Lord.
Calvin: We are already growing and we have split into two groups and this is just guys. I had doubts about how many people would turn up for this especially since it is early in the morning but we are growing rapidly. This group also has helped me with leadership skills and is helping me grow as a Christian too. I am very glad we started this and I hope someone will take over after we move on to high school.
Sam: I’d say to anyone that is possibly going to start a Campus Bible Group or something similar – don’t let the fear of others judging you stop you from working for The Lord.
