Student Finds Rewards in Leadership!

Student Leaders Speak

I have been involved with Fellowship of Christian Athletes all through high school, though all it’s ups and downs. My senior year I felt God calling me to take on a leadership role. I wanted to make an impact on my school and God’s kingdom. I was fortunate enough to have a youth pastor to help me along the way. On top of this I attended Strength For The Task prior to the school year which helped to equip me for the school year and prepare me for leadership as well as get me excited to serve The Lord.

I’m so thankful God put me in a leadership role at my campus. It helped me to grow as a leader and person. I’m better able to juggle multiple tasks, communicate with adults, and more importantly: I am more confident in my ability to prepare a Bible study lesson, lead prayer, and just talk about God’s Word more freely.

Being in charge of FCA at my campus has definitely challenged my faith and leadership. It was stressful keeping up with the weakly speakers, activities, and occasional fundraisers. However, it was totally worth it and beyond rewarding. I knew all the glory was going to God and that’s a good feeling.

My advice for students who are wanting to be a leader at their school is simply trust God. If He is calling you to be a leader, He’s going to give you the tools and ability needed to do the job – God will provide. It will be challenging but the outcome will be worth it. Being a leader on your campus will make you a better person and a stronger Christian.
