Willing Leaders

Student Leaders Speak

How can a hobby lead to student leadership? It all began this September when I was asking some teachers what students could lead a Campus Bible Group at Andover Middle School. One teacher immediately thought of Sydney who had posted “growing in her faith” as a hobby in a writing exercise.  Moments later I was talking to Sydney and her friend Carley. I explained to them how they could lead a Campus Bible Group and they responded with enthusiasm.  A couple of weeks later they had a room full of girls and Carley and Sydney were learning first hand how to be student leaders.  Keith Malcom

Here is what  Sydney and Carley have to say about their new roles as leaders:

For me it all started with writing in class that one of my hobbies was to “grow in my faith” which is how a teacher identified me as a leader. The students in our Campus Bible Group seem to love it. I’ve learned a lot about leadership and spreading the Word of God throughout my school. I’ve also learned a some new things about God from the Bible lessons provided by Campus Ministry Network.  Sydney – Andover Middle School

We had been wanting to start a Campus Bible Group but just didn’t know how to get started. The girls who come seem to like it and they have been patient with us as we planned everything out. I have learned more about how to lead a group and it is a great experience. I like how I have learned from the scripture verses we are teaching. It is fun to teach and gather with others to learn about God!   Carley – Andover Middle School
