“In 2 Corinthians 5:20 Paul calls all Christians to be ambassadors for Christ. I’ve learned that this role is further exemplified in the student leader position. An ambassador represents and often times operates in a foreign place. It may be easy to represent Christ in the church setting but when it comes to foreign lands; like public school – it can become more difficult. In the student leadership position I’m not just representing Christ to my community but to every peer I interact with. Whether that’s befriending the lonely, standing for what’s right, or loving my enemies which may be countercultural to represent in the public school environment.
So for incoming student leaders, do not conform to this world (Romans 12:2). Yeah, it’s going to feel weird at first to live differently from what the majority of your peers would live like, but take joy in serving the mighty God who gave you eternal life. Romans 12:2 goes on to explain that by renewing your mind you would be able to discern the will of God. So, make sure to spend much time with Christ, whether that’s in the Bible or in prayer, so that you can discern His will and represent Him well. You are an ambassador for Christ.”
